Shoes, Bags, Trees

It’s almost weekend. Oh, wait, it’s almost THE Weekend for some. The Chinese New Year is just a wink away and so is Valentine’s Day. What are your plans, you?

I definitely have plans of my own–Siam Square, a haircut, the Vintage Market, maybe some JJ shopping, and yes, scouting for fab finds in the malls or the streets.

Today, we have a few pairs of shoes, a bag, a movie, a watch, and, oh, a mangrove-planting project in Cebu, Philippines!

Let’s talk a Walk, shall we?

Alexander McQueen for Puma (AW 2010) – Don’t you just love hightops, ridges and metals-and-blacks? The street is being redefined every season, and yes, we all know that WE are the ones making that definition. I am voting for hightops to stay! And McQ! It-Degree: 240

Jeremy Scott for Longchamp Sergeant Bags (AW2009-10) – With collaborations happening left and right, from big fashion houses to it-designers and retail stores to even media channels, the hip packet is beginning to, well, ‘redefine‘ themselves, too. The Sergeant Bag, simply put, is a ‘yuppie in Tokyo’–traditional Longchamp bag design with the colours of the street-savvy Jeremy Scott. Aye, aye, sir! It-Degree: 240

KP Green Earth: A Mangrove-Planting Activity – (Visit the website here.) A packaging company that aims to mitigate the effects of climate change, while helping the local community of Olango Island in Cebu, Philippines, by planting 5 million mangrove trees in 5 years. Tomorrow, 12-February, is the second phase of KP Green Earth tree-planting activity. It-Degree: 360

My Haji Lane Shoes #1 – While in Singapore last weekend, Anna and I went to have a Walk along Haji Lane (near Arab and Bugis Sts.), and found these lovelies sitting in front of the Mono Store (66 Haji Lane, Singapore). Anna said she had good vibes and we need to go inside. I said this was definitely IT–gray shoes with crocodile texture. It-Degree: 360

My Haji Lane Shoes #2 – I also trust Anna when it comes to buying more than one goodie in a store. She certainly gave one of the best buying advices of 2009 at the Platinum Mall in Bangkok for those 3 pairs of jackets at a bargain price. The gray shoes would only remind me how stupid I would be if I didn’t get this aquamarine pair. I heeded. We have plans already on how and when I should wear these fabs. It-Degree: 360

The Last Airbender – Long before Cameron’s Avatar started its media hype, I have heard about Shyamalan’s Avatar: The Last Airbender through the grapevine. I searched the internet and found there was actually a court battle between the two films for the rightful owner of the title Avatar. I don’t know who ‘won’ but it seemed that Shyamalan’s team thought it would be better not to confuse the moviegoers about it. Anyway, TLA is showing (tentatively) on 2nd-July this year, starring Jackson Rathbone (of Twilight) as Sokka, Dev Patel (of Slumdog Millionaire) as Zuko, and Noah Ringer as Aang. I am very excited to see this film, especially since I have developed a teeny-tiny crush on Dev. It-Degree: 360

Vabene Turbulence Watch – I have an annoying habit of buying magazines every week (and everywhere) and not reading them. I have some from Hongkong dated Oct-2009 that I have just opened last night. And this morning, I have just started flipping through a November issue of Volume Thailand. How rude, right? Anyway, I saw the Turbulence Watch by Vabene from one of these magazines and I couldn’t help but stare. It comes with gold-dial-and-black-strap, chrome-and-black, gold-and-white, chrome-and-white, gold-and-purple and black-and-black (featured here). I wonder if a V-Guy would wrap one for me this weekend. It-Degree: 360
