Contempo 70s: Ulysses King

When Ulysses King asked me to do the styling for his Holiday 2011 Collection, it didn’t take a jiffy for me to say yes. The anticipation of working with him again (my first was accessorizing for his Summer 2011) brought so much excitement that my mind got flooded with a lot of ideas, from the colour palette, to the press kit, to the photoshoots, and eventually developing a collection of bowties specifically for his collection, and that was how Envoy Man got into the picture.

While in Bangkok, and while we were brainstorming via emails and phone calls, we thought of bringing some flavour into the key looks by including wigs for the models, both in the photoshoot and on the runway. It injected a more 70s-look with fun and flair. We also worked with accessories designer Adante Leyessa to create brooches, chainmails, and various neckwear that will compliment the exposed zippers that the collection featured.

ABS-CBN’s Enrique Gil donned the finale piece–a soft leather suit with Envoy Man bowtie made from Indian silk.
