Philippine Fashion Week SS2011: Ulysses King “Cross Border”
The Egyptians had woven the fibre into a cloth from their earliest days, and by the middle ages in Europe, it had become the principal textile. The Indian silk, for more than 4000 years, has been associated with crowned heads and riches throughout the different ages and acclaimed to be an important aspect of summer’s wardrobe. Both linen and silk materials were used to connect the ancient fashion to modern style.

The Story of Us (Melissa and Dieter)
One starry night, riding in the passenger seat of her friend’s car, Melissa staked her claim. She rolled down the window while breezing down Wireless Road and yelled to the sky and all that cared to listen that she was ready to fall in love. It was a proclamation to the universe. She was ready. A push was needed. A little help from the larger powers that be. Little did she know that just two days later she would meet the man she would one day marry. Little did she know that on that very night, as she raised her voice to the stars above in a rapidly moving car on Wireless Road that the very man she was calling was quietly celebrating his 33rd birthday.
Designer Profile: Ulysses King (From both sides of the spectrum)
In ardent search for a ‘new’ wearable menswear that respects tradition, Ulysses King tried his hands on fashion that precipitated the introduction of a men’s line under the house of BOBON (co-founded by Puey Quinones) at The Podium in 2008. BOBON has a mix of classical pieces in natural fabric and high-tech textures, targeting the early-20s to mid-30s market.
