Envoy Man presents Club Bowtie

Mike de Guzman of Pinas Fasyon sent me a mail a few weeks ago and it made me realize that I haven’t thought of any press release for the Club Bowtie collection for Envoy Man. His invitation to be featured on his next Fasyon article was such a breath of fresh air, a crisp one!

Inspiration

I travel a lot for work and leisure for the last six years or so and I have been to some of the best party places in Asia. The main inspiration is actually the British dandy of the 40s and 50s, where men go out in a dashing regalia of coats, waistcoats, brogues and neckwear. While doing the styling job for Ulysses King‘s Holiday 2011 Collection entitled Contempo 70s, I imagined a British dandy in New York in the 70s and how will he be dressed up for a night in town, and so the Envoy Man’s Club Bowtie is born.

Trend

This season’s bowties put Japanese cotton and Indian silk as the main canvasses to work on, incorporating small metal discs and pins and beads handsewn on the bowtie to give it that glitzy party mood. The fabrics are all imported from Japan and India with prints that are unobtrusive but well-recognized like the playful yet classic paisley prints, pastel coloured solids and geometric lines–elevating a party night into a more high-society affair, but friendly and quirky.

The next collection, which will be out around October or November, will feature Thai silk, Indian bamboo cotton and Korean leather with bolder prints and sensual texture.

I do my best to make sure that the collections contrast-and-complement the upcoming runway trends, especially that I am also working with a few designers in Bobon, primarily for Ulysses King, who is famous for his luxe menswear.

Price

The bowties are priced at 399, 420 and 699 pesos, and are only available at Bobon, The Podium. Most designs only have 1 or 2 pieces on display.
