The collection calls to an era past, returning to the beautiful tradition and mystical essence of the nomadic heritage . It is a blend of the ancient and the modern, with ancient referring to Egypt and India as exemplified by the linen material which is very much in vogue, having a history going back over 5000 years.
The Egyptians had woven the fibre into a cloth from their earliest days, and by the middle ages in Europe, it had become the principal textile. The Indian silk, for more than 4000 years, has been associated with crowned heads and riches throughout the different ages and acclaimed to be an important aspect of summer’s wardrobe. Both linen and silk materials were used to connect the ancient fashion to modern style.
This latest collection exudes the signature tailoring of which Ulysses King is famed for. Decisive cuts that are sharp and angles that are much defined, impressive choice of lining materials, detachable pieces, tapered size shirting and unlined linen jackets, and capelets mixed with a rugged twist of pyramid shape hoodies–all of which are emphasized with a hint of the cross bording designs from ancient to modern.
The more traditional double breasted suit in slanted pocket that looks like a ladder and the pleated dress shirts, modern capelets and hoods echoed the Egyptian and Indian influences in natural and hand-woven silk materials. Camel brown mirrors the color theme of the cross border collection where designs are accentuated with sheer fabric in nude, black bordeaux and old rose–to add an intriguing twist.
